Have You Ever Thought...

have you ever thought…

how far does the light of the lighthouse reach on the water?…

when would you disappear into the horizon?…

which direction would you go in the fog?

Have you ever thought about - the exhibition asks small questions that evaporate into the air and  fly by in our thoughts before we even notice.

When stopping to observe the tranquility of a landscape or a moment, a person also stops for a moment within himself. We ask questions that have no answers. Questions we don't want answers to. When we look at the surrounding landscape, we also look at ourselves. When we look at a photograph, we look at ourselves. Each of the black and white photographs in the exhibition stops a moment where you can ask questions - observe the mystery of the moment. The black and white photos of the exhibition tell a different story to each viewer. The photos have been selected from a wide range of production over the years, from home and abroad.

Photography has been a part of Lauri Hakala's life since he was a little boy. He has observed people, the environment and events through the viewfinder. After becoming seriously ill, photography became an even more important channel for creativity and a form of therapy. When life becomes fragile and unpredictable, questions surface that did not need to be asked before. As a phototographer, Lauri Hakala wants to leave each viewer room for their own interpretation and story. The black and white pictures challenge the viewer to write their own answers to life's little questions.
