Three points of view of urban life

Chrisse Candolin has invited two photographers, Jussi Rautsi and Fabio Lima with her to a joint exhibition in Laterna Magica. Exhibtion presents different points of view to people in various situations, locations and surroundings. Exhibition consists of videos and photography.

Out of Place

In her three video works Chrisse Candolin views tourism with gentle criticism. Videos have been filmed in Venice, a city marked by tourism. It is also burdened by tourism, it's infrastructure is under duress and prices have risen leading to gentrification and altered ecology.

People of Helsinki

Jussi Rautsi photographs using traditional tehcniques. His photographs depict people in downtown Helsinki where he was born, where he has lived and worked his whole life. valokuvaa filmille mekaanisella kameralla. Using traditional methods of photography is his statement for people and living urban environment and against overt digitalization.

A permission has been asked from all the subjects in his photographs. The photographer has gained many new friends from all age groups and nationalities with his camera. The exhibition also aims to show people who are over 80 years old and still work.  

IN CITIES

Fabio Lima: Public spaces in the cities are changing continuously. Photographing people using the public spaces is a search of comprehension/interpretation of places. A search that reveals individual and collective looks with tenderness in different situations. And these photographs exposes feelings that mirrors my own sensibility.
