Antti Ylönen lives and works in Ii, Northern Finland. He is sculptor and photographer best known for his wooden sculptures. In the past few years sculpting has made way for photography. He first exhibited his photography in the Northern Photography Centre in Oulu in the summer of 2018 in an exhibition 'Silent Stories of Land' together with Japanese photographer Naoko Chiba. Those photographs were taken in autumn 2015 in Kitakata, Japan. Some of those works will also part of the exhibition in Laterna Magica. There will also be a pair of sculptures 'Are You Listening to Me ?' which was made during that trip to Japan. In the summer of 2019 Ylönen took part in the exhibition 'Aika, paikka, valo' in Lihula, Estonia showcasing Finnish photography.

Ylönen describes his upcoming exhibition in Laterna Magica: "My photographs are like paintings with camera, urban landscapes. I pay attention to details, especially in architecture and details that depict dilapitation and decay. I try and capture the moments when nature starts to take over the man made landscape. The photographs in this exhibition were taken in Japan, Germany, Estonia, Denmark and Italy. "

The artist has been supported by Valto Pernu Foundation and Taike.
