Magical bookstore and gallery in the heart of Helsinki

The Book Gallery Laterna Magica is a gallery and an antiquarian bookstore. Founded in 1989 it is the cultural treasure of Kruununhaka district in Helsinki that has hosted over 800 exhibitions. The antiquarian bookstore has a vast collection of books and we specialize in photography and art books. Art gallery has three unique exhibition spaces, one of them a cellar space with a floor that is 1,8 billion years old natural bedrock. Laterna Magica also hosts a variety of weekly events from concerts to book discussions.

Our collection of photography books is one the best in the country. We have a wide selection of techinal manuals as well as a variety of books from photographers from all over the world.

Collage workshops

We organize monthly "Drink & Collage" workshops at the gallery. Drink&Collage is an evening where you get to know the world of collage art by making it yourself. Collage is an inspiring and free form technique where materials are assembled on a base forming an artwork.
