In May Äänen Lumo brings the composer John McCowen for a visit in Helsinki, to perform his solo pieces for contrabass clarinet. His work focuses on expanding the limits of the clarinet by embracing multiphonic drones and beating harmonics.
John is currently residing in Reykjavík, where he's teaching improvisation in the Iceland University of the Arts. His work has been released by Edition Wandelweiser, International Anthem, Astral Spirits, SUPERPANG and Dinzu Artefacts to name a few.
The event has been supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike).
