FRAGILITIES

Ceramic artist Catharina Kajander, painter Antero Kahila and musician and poet Kirsi Poutanen come together in Laterna Magica to exhibit ceramic torso sculptures, paintings and fragmentary vocal poetry work in multi-disciplinary dialogue of fragilities.

Exhibition opening on Tuesday Decembet 10th from 5-7 PM. Warm welcome.

Exhibition consists of big hand built torsos by Catharina Kajander for which Kirsi Poutanen has made a sound installation. The works in cellar gallery are complemented by Antero Kahila's paintings in the adjoining tile gallery.

Ceramic artist Catharina Kajander (b.1945) uses mainly terracotta clay in her work with large scale feminist sculptures and installations.

Kirsi Poutanen is a multi-disciplinary artist who is best known as a musician and singer specialized in Portuguese Fado. She also has written several works of poetry.

Antero Kahila is an artist who in his later work has touched upon several themes such as alienation and loneliness. He is best known for his paintings where he combines old layered painting techniques with contemporary techniques. Kahila was Carnegie Art Award finalist in 2014.
