Natura Mystica - Our art unites in a deep striving after knowledge about what’s exists beyond consciousness. It is based on experiences in the borderlands between the unseen and the comprehensible. The exhibition strives to mediate our insights from the painter’s and the photographer’s point of view.

Artist Olof Kangas

born 1946 in Mariehamn, living in Helsinki. I have been working with painting, artist's books, kinetic sculptures, light art, installations and performances for about 50 years. I have had solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Finland and in more than other 20 countries. A cosmologic oriented world of ideas is the foundations for my art. An intuitive comprehensive view is essential for the creation of my art. I’m fascinated by the borderlands where the invisible and the apprehensible meet. In my paintings I try to depict the dreamlike state between the inner and the outer realms, to express my metaphysic thoughts and visions. www.olofkangas.com 

Photographer Marcus Boman

Born 1963, living on the Åland Islands. Marcus Boman, freelance photographer and pianist. After a Master degree in music at the Sibelius Academy and 20 years as pianist and headmaster, I studied studied photography and art Frankfurt am Main. I have exhibited regularly and 2018 I released my first book Skaparkraft with portraits of artists from the Ålands Islands. The pictures in the exhibition stems from my second book I AM (2021) I AM is an artistic photo essay that tells my own story. In my world, we inhabit a monistic existence where traditional binaries such as good and evil, dark and light, masculine and feminine do not stand in opposition to each other, but constitute natural and complementary parts of us all.
