Exhibitions

Essi Hurme's exhibition consists of ceramic sculptures and pastel paintings. The pastel paintings by Essi Hurme are portraits and colour studies of imaginary persons. Her ceramic sculptures or"sitters", as she calls them are a part of a larger series that has been ongoing for years and this exhibition lets some of the sitters take their place on the Book gallery walls. The joint exhibition of Miia Kallio and Otto Santala, "Obstacles" in Gallery Laterna Magica's Cellar and Tile Galleries consists of ceramic sculptures, oil paintings, and video works. Kallio is a visual and ceramic artist, focusing on the use of Finnish red clay, or "wild clay" in her work. Ari Jaskari (b,1958) is known for his photos depicting the Saimaa lake district and the people on its shores. His photography exhibition and book Oma koti - Sweet home are based on material that Jaskari photographed in his home town Anttola in the early 1980's. The photographs offer intimate glimpses into Jaskari's family life and community, everyday life.

Risto Moberg's andd Jaru Alponpoika Kokkinen's significant collection of erotic art will be exhibited in the galleries of Laterna Magica in early February 2023. Exhibition consists of photography, posters, prints, paintings and sculptures. Exhibition opening on Tuesday January 31st from 5-7 PM. Warm welcome.

Moments at the Cemetery Hetkiä hautausmaalla -exhibition consists of photographs and a video that was filmed with a pinhole camera at the Hietaniemi Cemetery in Helsinki.
