Helena Marja Teräväinen is an architect, Doctor of Technology, currently a freelance researcher and photographer.‍ Her exhibition wants to highlight the importance of permanence in architecture – instead of the madness of demolition.

The exhibition Fragile Threads of Time consists of tannin-patinated cyanotype prints printed on watercolor paper. The images were taken in empty building interiors and courtyards in my home region of Satakunta. They are details of the passage of time and forgetting.

My pictures depict moments, feelings and boundaries. Through them I want to share a story – about the reality or unreality of one woman. About the voices, imaginations and visions of the mind. Eija Pokkinen's ink, charcoal and pastel drawings and Timo Pyhälä's stone sculptures, elves and earthlings, engage in a dialogue at the Laterna Magica Book Gallery.

Film director Risto Jarva (1934-1977) made two trips to Europe with his schoolmate Juhani Jauhiainen on a 125cc Vespa: in 1954 via France to Italy and in 1955 to Spain and Portugal. The third trip was made in a dilapidated Renault in 1959 via Yugoslavia and Greece to Turkey. These trips resulted in hundreds of photographs, from which the Risto Jarva Society has compiled an exhibition in the Tile and Cellar galleries of Laterna Magica.

Laterna Magica's summer exhibition features photographs by several photographers who have photographed Helsinki. The exhibition includes works by the following photographers: Jorma Hinkka, Martti Jämsä, Jaakko Kilpiäinen, Johnny Korkman, Antti Närhi, Sanni Seppo, Antero Takala, Tuomo-Juhani Vuorenmaa and Tapio Wilska.

The art exhibition consists of photography by Bathory Legion and glass artworks and paintings by Väkevä Voima. Bathory Legion is a photographer specializing in urbex and underground photography, and the exhibition will see Rome from a chthonic perspective. Väkevä Voima's glowing glass artworks are juxtaposed with dark-toned paintings.
